#TBT : Race Shirts

Took a little stroll down memory lane last night as I chopped up race shirts for my Project Repat blanket.  There were a few shirts that I really had a hard time cutting but I'm sure I will get much more use out of them as a quilt this winter than I have running.  I'm also thankful I had enough shirts that I still have ones to wear for running :)

I really don't know how I want them organized.  Right now, they are roughly in order by year, starting on the left and going down but I don't like how the first 3 shirts (River Bank Run 2006 5k, 2007 5k, 2010 10k) are all white.  Obviously, the shirt quality and color selections improved from 2006 to 2014.  The sizes also got smaller :)

The only ones I know I would like together are the runDisney shirts.  Tinker Bell, Wine and Dine and my Coast to Coast shirts are sort of a set, right?  Maybe if I request that, they'll be cool with it.  I think I'm going to let them have at it for the rest of the design.

#TBT: My First Marathon - Grand Rapids 2011

In a little over 2 weeks, I'm going to be running my second marathon, so I took a walk down memory lane this morning and decided to share it with you.

My kids ran the finish with me :)

My friend Judi gave me my medal and lots of hugs while we both cried.

This race made me a marathoner.

You can read my full race report here.  There's even some video of me running and crossing the finish line, which was kind of interesting to watch (hello straight robot legs!).  It makes me wonder what I look like now as I run since I think my running style has changed a lot over the past 3 years.  I know I'm faster - at least most days :)

I'm going to miss having that escort down the finishing shoot in Detroit.

#TBT : My Seniors

Just after Labor Day, these two will start their Senior year of HS. I can't believe how little they were on their first day of Kindergarten.

I look at them now and I'm in awe of the talented, intelligent, gorgeous, young adults they've become.

I know this school year is going to fly by.

Words cannot express how honored and thankful I am to call these two my kids.

Mom loves you, Kaylee and David.

Thankful #TBT: Vacation Exploration

Two years ago I was in DC for some girl time & me time. I had a beautiful watchless run along the Potomac and Arlington National Cemetery. I love when TimeHop reminds me of days like these.



I've had some nice vacation runs since I became a runner. DC, Savannah, Charleston, Orlando, Chicago.  The list goes on.  Running is really one of the best ways to explore a new city.  What's the last city you explored?

#TBT: a gentle #tribelove reminder

After yesterday's post, it was nice to get a little #tribelove reminder about how far I've come.

This one came in the form of a tweet thanks to my girl, Kirsten, and timehop.

4 years ago I was trying to decide whether or not to sign up for my first half marathon 

(and apparently doubting myself as usual).

Now I'm training for my second full.

Like Kirsten said, sometimes you have to "look at how far you've come" to see where you are going.

This post is a bit of 

Three Things Thursday, Thankful Thursday and Throwback Thursday

all rolled into one.

Almost 17 years ago, these two made me a mom.

In 2009 they headed off to middle school, but
not before a trip to Washington, DC.

In 2 days they finish their Junior year.
Academic honors, AP classes, marching band,
theater, athletic varsity letters, NHS.

I am so incredibly blessed to call David and Kaylee my kids 

and I couldn't be more proud of them.

In a couple days, they will officially be Seniors in HS.

Have you heard of the timehop app?  It's a fun little way to be reminded of what you were doing and posted 1, 2, 3 or more years ago.  

Some days the hops are really funny and honestly, some of the posts are probably ones I would rather have forgotten about.  These three posts occurred exactly one year ago yesterday.

This is one I'd like to forget.
Trying to come back from my stress reaction/fx 2 years ago.
 I feel like I'm going through this all over again.

3 years ago I was coming home from Fitbloggin!
That was one of the best weekends ever and I can't wait
to get to Savannah this year.

This one cracked me up. That's my girl in the tiedye passed out
in a hotel hallway with 3 of her gymnastic teammates after a meet.
I miss her competing in gymnatics and can't believe it's been 4 years since she quit
to pursue high school sports.

So, a bit of nostalgia thanks to timehop.  Do you have timehop?  What's been your favorite "hop"?

Back when I was in shape & fun I went to Baltimore for Fitbloggin11 and met up with some awesome ladies.

I even ran a 5k in a tutu (and had some muscle cuz damn I look good in that picture).

I wonder what Savannah will bring this year. Hopefully more pictures like this.

#TBT: 100th Day

When you are 5, the 100th day of school is a very big deal. Today is the 100th day in my district (it should've been a week ago but snowmaggedon hit) and it reminded me of my twins when they had their Kindergarten 100th day celebrations 12 years years ago.

They graduate next year. Excuse me while I go bawl my eyes out.

In 3 days I'll run my 10th half marathon. I've come a long way, baby :)
